Photography Is Art

Photography has been debated about whether it can be considered as art for years. I believe that photography is art, because you are framing a subject and now we have photoshop to edit your photos too which makes it easier and more artistic to polish some photographs and plus there are some other special camera tricks you can use to create special photographs, such as sharper and even blurry photos.

If you decide on photography as a career, then you will know that you must be acquainted with Photoshop or Gimp for your career to grow and your photography knowledge to expand, to be creative and artisic helps too, but is not essential for art photography. The more you know about photography then the better you can apply your skills.

Art is subjective and different people see art in different things, so one person coud have created a sculpture out of yoghurt pots and glued cabbage leaves around them and hang them from string and there you go an instant piece of art that looks arty. A similar thing would be Jackson Pollacks Splatter paintings, they look uninteresting and just rather random, yet they appear in art museums, because someone decided that they would be art and are indeed art pieces of visual interest, of course they are in a technique way of looking at it, as I admire the art technique of splattering, I think a combination of other art techniques applied to this one would actually make a better piece of art.

Art is a matter of opinion anyway, so it's about conveying the artistic message and whether the persons that view the photo or art sees the artistic merit in your work. Other people may take whatever they want out of a photo or artwork, but some would argue that that in itself is art, the ability to let others make up their own mind about a central art piece.

Some people may say that to take a simple picture is not art at all, but you are framing the scene, you have selected a scene that you know should make a good picture so it's all the same really as painting a picture, except it is quicker and you can churn out art photos more productively.

Photography is an artists medium as you set things up just the same way as you would with mechanical artworks, just there are rules that help you with new photography far quicker. Photographic museum exhibitions all over the world host many artists work and it has become something to view and admire.
